Learning and Improvement Framework update

The LSCP’s Learning and Improvement Framework (LIF) outlines how we identify, share, and apply learning across agencies to improve outcomes for children and families in Leeds.

This framework is at the heart of our multi-agency safeguarding arrangements. It not only supports robust evaluation of safeguarding practices but also drives continuous improvement across the system, ensuring children receive the best possible support.

Learn more about the LSCP Learning and Improvement Framework and see how it shapes our collective safeguarding efforts.

Introducing our new Team Briefings

We’ve created a series of team briefings to support managers in developing staff skills across key safeguarding areas. Designed for use in team meetings, these resources help foster peer learning, build confidence, and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Use them to:

  • Reflect on casework as a team
  • Update team processes collaboratively
  • Kickstart your own library of learning tools

Each briefing includes clear aims, learning objectives, bite-sized activities, and links to practical tools, making it easy to engage your team in meaningful, practice-focused development.

We’ve focused our new team briefing series with a vital topic ‘information sharing. Sharing the right information at the right time is crucial to safeguarding children, young people, and their families.

This first set of briefings is designed to spark meaningful discussion, support reflective practice, and strengthen your team’s confidence in handling sensitive information effectively.

Explore the first series of team briefings and start using them in your next team meeting to drive learning and improvement within your team.

Drowning Prevention Week 2025

14 to 21 June 2025

As summer approaches, so does the risk of drowning, especially among children and teenagers cooling off in rivers, lakes, canals, and reservoirs. Even strong swimmers can face hidden dangers in open water.

According to the RLSS UK’s National Drowning Report 2023, 46% of drownings happen in summer, rising to 75% among 13–17-year-olds. Most of these tragedies are preventable with the right knowledge and awareness.

We’re proud to support Drowning Prevention Week alongside Yorkshire Sport Foundation and Active Leeds. Throughout the week, we’ll be sharing vital water safety messages, and we need your help.

Share our posts through your own social channels and help us spread water safety messages across the city. You can find @LeedsSCP on X, Facebook and LinkedIn.
