To Leeds practitioners

As we reach the end of the year, we would like to thank all our front-line practitioners, managers and partners for their continued efforts to improve outcomes for children across the city. Your daily commitment, dedication, and care are vital in keeping children and young people safe in Leeds, and your ongoing support of the work of the partnership ensures that we can continue to improve and be the best city for children.

This year has brought many highlights including the hosting of the Knife Angel sculpture at the Royal Armouries throughout February. This was part of our continued response to reducing serious youth violence throughout the city.

As well as participating in the West Yorkshire Safeguarding week in June, we also hosted our very own first Leeds Safeguarding Week in November. Over 1,000 practitioners attended the 36 sessions on a variety of topics.

Work has also continued on our safeguarding priorities and further developments will continue in the coming year.

We have strengthened our Multiagency Safeguarding Arrangements, in line with the publication of Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023), including Education now being the fourth partner within our safeguarding arrangements.

We are proud of the achievements of the partnership throughout the year, but none of this could be achieved without the dedication and commitment of staff to keep children safe and for this we are truly grateful and extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the children, young people and families of Leeds.

We look forward to continuing our work in the coming year and wish everyone a peaceful and restful holiday season.
