Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 stipulates the requirements and publication of an annual report. These reports are crucial for ensuring transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in safeguarding practices.
The LSCP Annual Report 2024 covers the period 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024, and is produced on behalf of the partnership by the Delegated Safeguarding Partners in Leeds.
The report begins by thanking all front-line practitioners and managers who work tirelessly to improve outcomes for children across Leeds. It is the commitment, dedication, and care that practitioners give to children and families on a daily basis, that keeps children safe.
Key messages from the report include:
- the findings of the recent Joint Targeted Area Inspection which demonstrates the strong commitment in Leeds to safeguarding children at all levels
- the introduction of an Independent Scrutineer, David Derbyshire, who joined Leeds in September 2023
- continued work on the safeguarding priorities and the developments that have taken place and the opportunities for further work in the coming year
- the commitment to continually improving safeguarding practice in the city with the new priorities for 2024-25:
o Domestic Abuse- children as victims.
o Safeguarding through Family Help
o Safeguarding Teenagers- serious youth violence and exploitation
These priorities will allow the partnership to continue the work established in 2023-24 and address emerging themes.
